Original U.S. Korean War USMC MP M1 Helmet Liner by CAPAC Original Items

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a United States Marine Corps 1950’s production Korean War issue M1 helmet  “high pressure” liner stamped with the Capac Manufacturing Company logo and 51 (1951) date. The liner is painted white with a red and yellow stripe around the circumference that ends in arrows pointing at a screw back EGA insignia. This style was a common overseas Marine Corps Military Police design used in Korea, Japan and Vietnam. Also included is a newly printed photo from a nearly identical example from a 1954 USMC tour book. Manufactured in Capac, Michigan this “high pressure” manufactured M-1 helmet liner is identified by an embossed “cross” with the words “CAPAC” in the crown. Capac Manufacturing Company started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942. They produced approximately between 2,000,000 – 4,000,000 M-1 helmet liners and discontinued production around August 17, 1945 when the war ended.

This true M1 liner be identified through the frontal eyelet hole. Other correct features include cotton herringbone twill (HBT) cloth suspension liner. This HBT suspension is held tightly within the M-1 helmet liner by rivets and a series of triangular “A” washers. The three upper suspension bands are joined together with a shoestring. This way the wearer could adjust the fit. The sweatband is unfortunately no longer present, but could be replaced. Also the liner and shell chin straps were removed at some point.
